Why in 2025, You Can’t Spell Ecommerce Without AI

In 2025, you can’t really spell ecommerce without AI. What stands plainly for Artificial intelligence isn’t really a futuristic concept, it’s become the backbone of modern retail.

The AI Evolution in Retail

A survey by Carl Marks Advisors underlined this dual importance: 56% of retail and consumer goods executives plan to invest in AI for marketing, while 52% focus on AI-driven financial forecasting.

These investments highlight AI’s ability to deliver personalized shopping experiences as well as operational efficiencies that save money and drive smarter decisions amid shifting global trade

Social Commerce: A $2 Trillion Opportunity

Social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram function way beyond connection now that they’re vital shopping spots for brands. As a big driver of retail growth in 2025, more retailers are incorporating these platforms into their strategies. For businesses, this means meeting consumers where they already spend their time—scorlling feeds  on the top social apps.

As of December 2024, more than 54% of Americans reported shopping online more than ever before with generations like Gen Z and Millennials preferring omnichannel shopping that allows them to switch easily between online and offline shopping.

This means game-changing numbers for mobile commerce, since 77% of shoppers now search for products on their phones while they’re in stores. By the end of 2025, mobile commerce is expected to hit $710 billion, which shows its dominance in the retail world. Being optimized for a mobile shopping experience includes the customer experience but also the operations and logistics of an ecommerce store.

The importance of AI is twofold—it empowers brands to meet rising customer expectations and equips them to operate smarter, faster, and more cost-efficiently.
